            Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath Ji has given instructions to complete the work of the Bundelkhand Expressway project by the end of November 2021. He has said that this expressway will pave the way for the development of the entire Bundelkhand region and that after the construction of this expressway, the Bundelkhand region will become a major hub of tourism.

            The Chief Minister was on Tuesday reviewing the construction works of Package 5 of Bundelkhand Expressway at the project site after inspection of the bridge under construction on Yamuna River under Bundelkhand Express-Way in village Ladpur Diwar of Madhogarh Tehsil of Jalaun District.

            The Chief Minister further said that the State Government is pursuing development works at a fast pace with good intentions and strong will power. The Bundelkhand Expressway project has been completed about 50 percent. While conducting the work on a war footing, the work of the expressway should be completed by the end of November, he said. Earlier such a big bridge was built in about 06 to 07 years but now due to new technology, it will be ready in 06 to 08 months, he informed.

            The Chief Minister also said that the farmers of the Bundelkhand region have provided their full support in this important infrastructure project related to the overall development of the Bundelkhand region by providing their land for the construction of the expressway. This contribution of the farmers is commendable, he emphasized. He went on to say that many projects are being implemented by the present government for the development of the Bundelkhand region. 

            Earlier people were afraid of coming to this area, but now the area is developing so much that people are eager to come here. 02 airports are being built in Chitrakoot and Lalitpur in the Bundelkhand region. Under 'Jal Jeevan Mission', clean drinking water will be supplied in the Bundelkhand region through the 'Har Ghar Nal-Har Ghar Jal' scheme, he said and added that this region also has Pachnada, where there is a confluence of five rivers. A large barrage will be built at Pachanada, which will provide better water for irrigation to the farmers of the Bundelkhand region, the chief minister stated.

            The Chief Minister said that the construction of this expressway will usher in the overall development of the Bundelkhand region. Economic activities will increase here. Instructing to develop industrial clusters near the expressway, he said that this will set up new industrial units, which will provide better employment opportunities to the youth of Bundelkhand.

            The Chief Minister said that presently, Covid vaccination campaign is in progress in the state. He directed the officers to conduct Corona vaccination work as per the guidelines and order of the Government of India and said that effective action should be taken for the targeted age group vaccination.

            Chief Executive Officer of UPEIDA, Mr. Awanish Kumar Awasthi apprised the Chief Minister that under the Bundelkhand Expressway project, the bridge being constructed on Yamuna river was completed in the shortest time (06 to 08 months) and set a record in UPEIDA in the country. Bridges are also under construction on the Betwa and Ken rivers in this project. Construction of these bridges is also being done at a rapid pace. A record construction work of 120 km road of Bundelkhand Expressway has been completed by UPEIDA in one year and all flyovers are also being constructed at a high speed, Mr. Awasthi informed the Chief Minister.

            On this occasion, Minister of State for Higher Education and Science and Technology Mrs. Neelima Katiyar, Member of Legislative Council Mr. Swatantra Dev Singh, other public representatives and senior officials were present.

            It may be mentioned that Bundelkhand Expressway will connect the Bundelkhand region of the state with capital Delhi via Agra-Lucknow Expressway and Yamuna Expressway and will play an important role in the development of the Bundelkhand region. The expressway will start from Chitrakoot district near Jhansi-Prayagraj National Highway No. 35 Bharatkup and end at Etawah in the district near village Kudrail on Agra-Lucknow Expressway. District Chitrakoot, Banda, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jalaun and Etawah will benefit from this project.

            The total estimated cost of the Bundelkhand Expressway project is Rs. 14849.09 crore and the contracted cost of civil construction is Rs. 7766.81 crore. The Bundelkhand Expressway project has been divided into a total of six packages for construction.

            The total length of the Bundelkhand Expressway project is 296 km. On the expressway, 4 railway over bridges, 14 long bridges, 6 toll plazas, 7 ramp plazas, 268 small bridges, 18 flyovers and 214 underpasses will be constructed. The Bundelkhand Expressway will be made 4 lanes wide (expandable in 6 lanes) and structures of 6 lanes width. On one side of this expressway, a 3.75 m width service road will be built in a staggered form, so that the residents of the village near the project can have easy access to the expressway.

            Service road and other works are also in progress by various EPC contractors in the construction of Bundelkhand Expressway. So far, the work of clearing and grubbing in the Bundelkhand Expressway has been completed 97 percent and soil work more than 82 percent. 497 structures have also been completed. Currently, about 50 percent of the total physical progress of the project has been completed.
