Government of India has appointed IAS Officer Subhash Chandra Khuntia is New IRDAI Chairman

Appointments Committee of Cabinet lead by Prime Minister of India has appointed former IAS officer Mr. Subhash Chandra Khuntia is the New Chairman of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) for the period of three years or till the age of 65 years, whichever is the earliest.

Khuntia is a 1981 batch IAS officer of the Karnataka Cadre. He was served as the Chief Secretary of the state Government Karnataka. Earlier Mr. T.S. Vijayan was the chairman of the IRDAI and he was retired in the month of February 2018. The post of Chairman was vacant from February 2018 is now fulfilled.

The Consolidated salary of the Chairman of the IRDAI is Rs. 4.5 Lakhs per month. Mr. Khuntia is a native of Jagatshingpur, Odisha and he was born in November 1957. According to media report, at least 8 people were shortlisted for the post, including the head of public sector insurance companies as well as a member of the insurance regulator. The finally committee has selected Mr. Khuntia for this post.
