Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the expansion work of the terminal building of Gorakhpur Airport and inaugurated a new flight in Gorakhpur-Lucknow-Gorakhpur route under ICS-UDAN of Alliance Air.
He flagged off the new flight. As soon as the expansion work of the terminal building is completed, an additional capacity of 200 more passengers will be available at the airport. The flight fare from Gorakhpur to Lucknow is Rs 1470.
In his address, the Chief Minister said that today, along with the Gorakhpur-Lucknow flight service, flight services have been started in 5 cities including Prayagraj to Bhopal and Bhubaneswar, Agra to Bhopal, and Bengaluru. Flight service will also start from Agra to Mumbai and Ahmedabad on March 29, 2021. He said that in order to provide safe and punctual service to the passengers, more flight services will be provided in collaboration with the Government of India based on the demand/number of passengers.
Chief Minister said that with the inspiration of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, for the convenience of Purvanchal residents, the inauguration of air service and expansion of terminal building has been kickstarted. 4 years ago, the state of other air services was not satisfactory in the state except Varanasi and Lucknow, he recalled and said that it has progressed a lot since the year 2017. At present, there was a flight facility from Gorakhpur to major cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Prayagraj and from today onwards the flight service from Gorakhpur to Lucknow has also been started.
The Chief Minister said that an international airport is being built in Ayodhya. Asia's largest international airport is coming up in Jewar. Air services will start soon from the International Airport of Kushinagar. Airports are being built in 17 divisional/district headquarters in the state like Jhansi, Aligarh, Azamgarh, Meerut, Sonbhadra, Lalitpur, etc. Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister envisages that an ordinary citizen should also avail the benefit of flying service and the wearer of thongs should also avail air service. His vision is coming to reality, air service has expanded in every region. Air service is being expanded in Gorakhpur on the basis of an increasing number of passengers/demand. Air service not only saves time but also speeds up the pace of development, he pointed out.
The Chief Minister said that with the cooperation of the Government of India, the State is constantly moving on the path of development. Referring to the Metro services, he said that the metro work plan in Gorakhpur has been sent to the Government of India. Metro work in Kanpur and Agra is going on fast, he said all the eligible beneficiaries are being benefited by the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana, he added. Action is being taken under the Amrit Yojana as per the action plan. 10 metros are being developed under the Smart City Mission in the state. Work is being done in rural areas as well as urban areas under the Jal Jivan Mission, he said.
Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Civil Aviation, Government of India, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri said that Uttar Pradesh is moving towards sustainable development and the work of Metro Rail is going on at a rapid pace here. According to the vision of the Prime Minister, the benefit of air service should reach the common citizens of the country, work in this direction is progressive, he said.
The Union Minister said that under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana, more than 17.75 lakh houses have been approved in Uttar Pradesh, and work on 12.56 lakh is in progress. Apart from this, Uttar Pradesh is listed on top in the Swachh Bharat Mission and Swanidhi Yojana. He said that after the expansion of the airport terminal, this terminal with state-of-the-art facilities will give a lot of comfort to the passengers and the number of flights from Gorakhpur will also increase. Uttar Pradesh is the first state to have a civil aviation policy, Jewar International Airport will be completed within the stipulated time frame, he added.
The state's Civil Aviation Minister Shri Nand Gopal Gupta "Nandi" said that under the inspiration of the Prime Minister and under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh is taking gigantic strides in progress. There are 08 airports in the state and air connectivity is from 27 metros. Jewar Airport is coming up shortly. This will prove to be a milestone for the employment generation in western Uttar Pradesh. The rule of law prevails here. He said that during the Corona pandemic period, the Chief Minister, by keeping a constant vigil on the relief work, saved the life of the people and kept Corona under control. Uttar Pradesh is ahead of all the States in Covid Vaccination, he said.
