Donald Trump – A pathological megalomaniac or narcissist Personality Perspective
Since Donald Trump is heading the U.S. one of the two superpowers in today’s context, one needs to have an in depth perspective of his personality.
Two significant features of Trump’s personality behavior should be glaringly obvious even to a layman. Trump is a self glorified “pathological megalomaniac or narcissist”. Let none have any doubts on the above score.
Few examples of narcissistic political leaders in mankind's history available from sources across the web include: Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Benito Mussolini, Kim Jong-I & II, Saddam Hussein, Muammar Gadaffi, Idi Amin, Mao Zedong, Robert Mugabe, Emperor Nero, Alexander the Great, Henry VIII, Napoleon Bonaparte, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Bill Clinton, Richard Nixon, Vladimir Putin, and Donald Trump. Even Jack Welch, George Soros and Musk can be added to the list of business-cum- political leaders. Add to them, Indira Gandhi in the modern Indian context.
Who is a pathological megalomaniac"? As per its meaning available in the public domain, it refers to someone exhibiting a mental disorder characterized by delusions of grandeur, a strong desire for power and control, and an inflated sense of self-importance. In essence, it's a clinical term describing a person with a severe form of megalomania, often associated with narcissistic personality disorder or other mental health.
What is pathological narcissism, also known as Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD)? It is a mental health condition characterized by a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, a need for admiration, and a lack of empathy. They often believe they are special or unique and have a superior sense of entitlement. They have an insatiable need for admiration and attention from others and may become overly demanding when they don't receive the admiration they crave.
Individuals with NPD often have an inflated sense of self-importance, a deep-seated sense of entitlement, and a strong need for attention and admiration. More importantly, they may have unrealistic expectations of preferential treatment and readily assume that others will recognize their achievements as outstanding, even if they are not. ……. They care a damn all for others feelings or needs of others. Their behavior is exploitative. They may manipulate, control, or even abuse others to get what they want. They may take advantage of others to meet their own needs, often without regard for the consequences. They often struggle to form and maintain healthy relationships, as their need for admiration and lack of empathy can be overwhelming for others.
However while they may appear outwardly arrogant and confident, they are often extremely sensitive to criticism or perceived rejection. And, they may blame others for their own shortcomings and readily take on an empowering victim role.
It is quite fascinating to study the behavioral pattern of political leaders suffering from pathological megalomania and narcissism.
Donald Trump is the most recent political leader quite brazenly displaying his personality traits in his personal ego-centric ambitions to garner all round wealth and power. He wants all around the global political milieu to dance around his whims and fancies.
Trump's recent boasting stands fully exposed. For example, Trumps boasting that he would stop the Russia-Ukraine war on day one after being sworn in as President of America; but the war continues even after his 100-days rule of America. Followed his furious dressing down and berating of Ukrainian President Zelensky with the aim of discrediting the Ukrainian leader and removing him as an obstacle to Peace. When Trump failed to cow down Zelensky, he went on to enter into a mineral agreement with him in return for resuming military aid.
Furthermore, Trump had backed Israel restarting its war with Hamas in Gaza and told advisors "I want to see Gaza wiped out. I don’t want to see even one building standing."
So also, Trump promised to "bomb the hell" out of Houthis and ISIS in the lead-up to his first term. Now, several months into a second term, he is seeking peace with terror groups again. Just recently, Trump said the US would stop attacking the Houthis in Yemen because the group had "capitulated", as Oman confirmed a "ceasefire" had been reached with the Iran-backed group for it to stop targeting shipping in the Red Sea. The Houthis are yet to comment.
Of course, Trump’s bombast against Canada as the 51st State, taking over Greenland and the Panama Canal are other examples of his delusions of grandeur, a strong desire for power and control, and an inflated sense of self-importance. In retrospect, it reflects a severe form of megalomania, often associated with narcissistic personality disorder.
No need to highlight his trade tariff outbursts particularly against China and reverting to trade talks with them at a neutral place and claiming credit for it.
The latest is bombast claims of brokering as a mediator ceasefire in the aftermath of India retaliating with Operation Sindoor. Trump dismally fails to understand that India like Israel is waging against global Islamist terrorism not on its behalf but also on behalf of the rest of the non-Muslim countries. Those sycophantic advisors forming his inner-coterie must pick up courage to warn and advise him to stop claiming to be a peace mediator between India and Pakistan. If India and the Hindu majority succumb to the Islamist terrorism fury in its backyard, its next fallout will certainly be against the Christian West in pursuit of establishing the Global Islamic Caliphate – Allah’s prescription.
The idea of a global Islamic caliphate is a complex and multifaceted concept with a rich history and various interpretations. It represents a vision of a unified Muslim community governed by divine law and a single leader, the caliph, who would be the successor to the Prophet Muhammad. So, the caution Trump and coterie is simple: prepare to fight united against “Islamist Global Terrorism” or preside over the turning of America or perish in a long term strategic perspective.
When viewed from his various ploys of brokering peace agreements, Donald Trump appears to be advancing his claims for the “Noble Peace Prize” and the greatest of all American Presidents of the U.S.A. Good luck to him. Surely, other national leaders are not going to be cowed down into submission and play second fiddle for his flamboyant and avaricious behavior for personal gains at the cost American people’s economic interests.
