Lucknow : 24 March, 2021

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Ji has said that collective efforts should be made to eradicate tuberculosis and that it was due to the concerted efforts under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi that the state got success in Corona management.

Through collective efforts and inter-departmental coordination, control of the disease was successful in 38 districts affected by JE / AES of the state including eastern Uttar Pradesh, he further informed. Introducing the collective approach was a successful initiative in the polio eradication campaign, he said while stressing the strength of collectivity in the successful execution of works. The effort by mass campaigning gives positive results, the chief minister noted.

The Chief Minister was expressing his views in a programme organized on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day in Sitapur district on Wednesday. During the programme, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various projects under the National Eradication Eradication Programme.

In the programme, the Chief Minister digitally inaugurated the newly established LPA Lab set up in the district of Gorakhpur and Meerut. He also inaugurated RTPMU set up in Gorakhpur. He inaugurated 451 True-Net machines and 25 digital X-ray machines installed in different districts as well. The foundation stone of Drug WareHouse was laid by the Chief Minister for the storage and maintenance of medicines in 21 districts. He also presented citations to the five districts of Rampur, Sonbhadra, Maharajganj, Chandauli, and Unnao for their outstanding performance in the national decimation programme.

The Chief Minister said that World Tuberculosis Day is a day to give a new impetus to the campaign to free people suffering from tuberculosis from all over the world. In the year 1882, the bacteria of TB were identified for the first time, but even after so many years, the world has not yet been freed from this disease. The World Health

Organization has targeted to free the world from tuberculosis (TB) by the year 2030, he added.

With meaningful efforts, we have got rid of many diseases like polio, the chief minister said while adding how the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has set a target to free the country from tuberculosis by the year 2025. He further said that there has been a decrease in the number of TB patients in the state in the year 2021 as compared to the year 2020.

The Chief Minister said that the most important thing for TB patients is to provide regular treatment in a time-bound manner. All departments including the Health Department will have to make efforts in the TB elimination campaign only then according to the resolve of the Prime Minister, by 2025, the country could be freed from TB. He said that treatment of TB disease is absolutely free. There is a provision of Rs 500 per month from the government for taking nutritious food during the period of treatment.

The Chief Minister also called upon the officers, employees, and people's representatives of all departments to adopt one TB patient each and continue to get information about the continuity of their treatment and the government assistance being received. With this, the patient of tuberculosis will soon be free from the disease, he said. The severity of the disease can be increased by breaking the sequence of treatment of the patient with Tuberculosis. The regular and restrained routine of any person can free him from all kinds of diseases.

If a person gets sick, he should not be discriminated against, but should be associated with the schemes of governance keeping sympathy with him, the Chief Minister said and added that the present

Central and State Governments were providing resources on a wide scale under various schemes.

The Chief Minister said that 38 districts of eastern UP and Terai were affected by JE. In these 38 districts, a large number of deaths were taking place every year for last 40-45 years. From the year 2017, the present state government launched a campaign in association with the central government, UNICEF, WHO, etc. to eradicate encephalitis and as a result of the campaign, succeeded in achieving effective control over the disease.

Appealing to take constant precautions to protect against Corona, the Chief Minister said that the introduction of vaccines does not mean that we should become careless. There is still a need to be vigilant towards Corona, he stressed. The chief minister also expressed hope that the schemes launched today and the foundation stones of the projects which were laid will definitely bring about effective improvement in health services and will prove to be very useful in the future.

Medical and Health Minister Shri Jai Pratap Singh also addressed the programme. Additional Chief Secretary Medical, Health, and Family Welfare Shri Amit Mohan Prasad thanked the guests.
