Meerut/Lucknow, August 26

Terming his ongoing campaign against the illegal drug trade as a ‘campaign to save the youth and

the country', the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on Friday urged society to extend support for the

drive against drugs. “Anyone trying to play with the lives of youth will not be spared,” he said.

While distributing tablets under Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana and Swami Vivekananda Yuva

Sashaktikaran Yojana in Meerut, Yogi said "In the ongoing campaign against drug dealers in the

state, every section of the society will have to participate as this is a campaign to save the country

and its youth, from the conspiracy of ruining their life through liquor or any kind of drugs or

intoxicant.”

“If someone plays with the life of the younger generation, we will treat him as a national criminal

and punish him for it. Their property will also be confiscated”, CM remarked.

In an event organised at the Chaudhary Charan Singh University, the CM also distributed ‘gharauni’

certificates (land ownership documents) under the Svamitva scheme of the state government .

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that Meerut is the base land of the history of India having a

mythological and historical identity.

“Efforts are underway to ensure that every section of the society should get the benefits of the

schemes of the government without discrimination. With the digital revolution, people are getting

the benefit of welfare schemes through DBT.”

The CM said that India presented a world-class model of Covid management under the leadership of

the Prime Minister.

“On the call from the Prime Minister, the whole country showed unity on the day of Janata Curfew.

Free test, free treatment was provided during the pandemic in India. In an effort to save lives and

livelihood, over 80 crore people were given free ration in the country.”

Launching a scathing attack on the previous governments, the CM said, “Earlier, the houses of the

poor were occupied by goons and mafias and the government acted indifferent towards such acts.

Now we are using drone technology to mark the properties of people and they are being given their

ownership rights. So far, it has been given to 34 lakh families.”

Asserting that being the most populated state, Uttar Pradesh has a maximum number of youth. The

youth of the state is also getting smart and they have limitless possibilities.

“During the Covid period, the Rajasthan government did not give any support to the youth of UP

who were there for studies. It was our government who brought them back safely.”

Mentioning how the government gave employment to the migrant labourers during Covid, the CM

said that skill training was given to these workers and they were linked to employment and self-

employment opportunities.

“Today we are giving smartphones and tablets to the youths studying in the Abhyudaya Coachings to

enable them in technology. In these coaching institutes, which will soon be extended to all 75

districts of the state, free classes are being given by the administrative officers”, Yogi said, adding

that MoUs have also been signed with companies like Infosys, whose programme based courses will

be able to benefit the youth of the state.

Taking a swipe at the previous government , the CM said, “We often create negativity by questioning

the functioning of others. No one is incapable, all they need is a qualified mentor.”

This is the same India, where there was distrust before 2014, there were agitations, in Uttar

Pradesh, riots used to happen every day.In today’s Uttar Pradesh, no one is allowed to play with the

law and order, he added.

He said that nothing can stop Uttar Pradesh from becoming number one. To make the state a dollar

one trillion economy, efforts are being made.

“Now the state's first sports university is being established here. Sports will be linked with education

policy. With the setting up of sports academies in every village, drug dealers will not be able to ruin

the younger generation,” he concluded.
