Uttar Pradesh Becomes First State to Fully Vaccinate 13 Crore Individuals
UP’s Vax Feat: 24 L ‘Precaution doses’ administered to HCW, FLW & Seniors; over 2.06 cr teens vaccinated UP inches close to crossing 30 cr total doses UP continues to lead India's Vax drive Lucknow, March 28, 2022 Keeping the pace of vaccination in top gear, the state of Uttar Pradesh became the first state in India to fully vaccinate over 13 crore individuals. The state on March 28, crossed a major landmark with more than 13 crore people — 13,00,03,622 — receiving both the doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far. The most populous state has so far given over 29,84,68,009 ‘Shots of Life’ to people. In addition, the state has also achieved the landmark of administering the first dose of the covid-19 vaccine to over 100 percent of the eligible adult population. While nearly 84 percent of the population is fully vaccinated in the state. Committed to providing additional protection cover to the priority group, Uttar Pradesh started administering booster shots (precaution dose) to the frontline and healthcare workers as well as senior citizens from January 10. Nearly 24 lakh ‘precaution doses’ have been administered in the state so far. Strengthening its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, the Uttar Pradesh government is providing vaccination cover to all children between 12 to 17 years of age in a time-bound manner.
So far, over 2,01,92,534 children in the age group of 15-17 and over 4,24,090 children in the age group of 12-14 have been administered vaccine doses in the state. Standing on the top, Uttar Pradesh is followed by Maharashtra with 16.04 crore doses. According to the latest figures on CoWin, Uttar Pradesh has administered 16.60 crore first doses of the vaccine so far. Just a few days after crossing the twenty-nine crore dose milestone, UP has also inched closer to crossing the 30 crore covid-19 vaccine shots. This will be another major landmark as the state continues to conduct one of the most successful vaccination campaigns in the country. Aggressive Vaccination is an integral part of the comprehensive strategy of the Yogi-led UP government to contain the pandemic, along with adherence to coronavirus- appropriate behaviour.
